Senior/Staff Product Engineer

About the role

We’re looking for a Product Engineer to join our team and help us build cutting-edge, AI-powered video creation and collaboration tools. Rather than specialists, we’re seeking curiosity-driven engineers who are thoughtful problem solvers and thrive in fast-paced, high-ownership environments.

What you'll do

• A peek at our technical stack
• Create rich multimedia interfaces using the cutting-edge of the latest AI video generation models Gen-4.5 and Aleph 2.0
• Build end-to-end full-stack AI-powered product features, designing and developing both frontend experiences and backend systems, including authoring server-side processes and APIs that power our generative AI tools
• Design and implement LLM-powered features and conversational interfaces
• Partner with a world-class engineering team pushing the boundaries of creativity and content creation on the browser
• Take on new challenges across the Frontend stack to implement product features for Runway’s machine learning-based generative AI tools
• Improve the performance, reliability, and code quality of our codebases

What they're looking for

• 5+ years of industry experience in a software engineering role, ideally full-stack focused
• Demonstrated fluency in one or more programming languages, including but not limited to JavaScript/TypeScript
• Experience building with third-party AI APIs (e.g., chatbots, LLM integrations)
• Experience in architecting production-ready systems and familiarity with debugging and profiling tools
• Ability to rapidly prototype solutions and iterate on them with tight product deadlines
• Humility and open-mindedness; at Runway, we love to learn from one another
• Lastly, the provided range is the expected salary for candidates in the U.S. Outside of those regions, there may be a change in the range, which again, will be communicated to candidates.
